Relational Pastoring

So he ran ahead of the crowd and climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus, who was going to pass that way. 5 When Jesus came to that place, he looked up and said to Zacchaeus, “Hurry down, Zacchaeus, because I must stay in your house today.” Luke 19:4 & 5 (GNT).

Serving as senior pastor, staff pastor or associate minister has changed from tarrying in the tower, exclusively riding in the first chariot to driving the car from a distance to lifestyle leadership, managing from the middle and smelling like the sheep. While becoming too common with the congregation you serve is dangerous, leading with words and no walk is equally dangerous. Learn how to lead relationally by connecting as Jesus did with every part and portion of the people you serve. Pastor Kenneth C. Curry Jr. serves as senior pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Yorba Linda, CA.
